We recently showed you the first Samyang lens with AF for Canon full frame cameras and for those same models the Samyang XP 50mm F1.2 EF had been presented also. It is, as you can see, an optics with a focal length of 50 mm, manual focus and a great brightness , which comes to swell the most exclusive line of the brand that promises an excellent performance.
This adds the new target to the premium XP 85 mm 1 / 1.2 and 14 mm 1 / 2.4 lenses introduced more than a year ago. It’s an exclusive lineup powered by the XP surname (from “eXcellence in Performance”) for measuring up to 50 megapixel sensors and more in still and high-resolution 8K video.
Externally, it is made of an aluminum alloy, and inside there are eleven lenses framed in eight groups, including an aspherical lens and a high refractive lens. All are equipped with a special Ultra Multi coating to avoid the parasitic reflections.
Its diaphragm consists of nine blades and its opening, according to Samyang, provides interesting blurs and a harmonious and soft circular bokeh. This quality undoubtedly makes it very interesting for portrait photography, one of the areas for which it is recommended.
In addition, with its brightness of 1.2, it is suitable for “high image quality in low light and indoors”. The minimum focus distance is 45 cm, the filter diameter is 86 cm and the weight is about 1200 grams.
