With the Q2 Leica introduces a new full-frame compact camera, which comes along with 47 megapixels and 4K videos.
New Leica Q2 presents
If you are interested in exquisite compact cameras with full-format sensors, you may be glad that Leica has now presented a successor to the Leica Q after about four years. The new Leica Q2 boasts an extremely high-quality housing, works with a new sensor and also records videos in 4K and Full HD videos at 120 fps.
New sensor with 47 megapixels
Leica takes advantage of the close cooperation with Panasonic in the Q2, because one can assume that the new 47-megapixel full-format sensor is the sensor of the Panasonic S1R. The ISO sensitivity ranges from ISO 50 to 50,000, in addition, Leica speaks of a dynamic range of 14 f-stops and a 14-bit color depth.
It is amazing that the Q2 despite the high resolution, a continuous speed of 10 frames per second is reached. Incidentally, the fixed lens is still a 28mm f / 1.7, which works with eleven lenses in nine groups and equally has a focus ring and a diaphragm ring. The Nahheinstellgrenze is 30cm, with macro shooting even 17cm are possible.
New EVF and weatherproof housing
The autofocus of the Leica Q2 can rely on 225 measuring fields and should focus within only 0.15 seconds. Meanwhile, the electronic viewfinder impresses with a resolution of 3.69 million pixels and a diopter correction from -4 to +3, while the permanently installed touch display with 1.04 million pixels dissolves.
For the case of the Leica Q2, the manufacturer wants to have increased the quality again, so the existing magnesium alloy housing is now also sealed against dust and splash water. The weight is 734 grams, the battery should provide enough capacity for 350 shots CIPA standard. WLAN, Bluetooth LE, a minimum mechanical shutter speed of 1 / 2.000 seconds, a minimum electronic shutter speed of 1 / 40.000 seconds and a flash sync speed of 1/500 second complete the technical data of the Leica Q2.
