New lenses from Canon and Nikon
Both Canon and Nikon are facing a major challenge: they need to build a new lens portfolio from scratch for their mirrorless full-frame cameras over the next few years. Nikon has already officially announced which Z lenses will be released in the next few years , and a timeline for the presentation of Z lenses in 2019 has already been leaked.
Canon: 7 new RF lenses 2019
Canon has no official information in this regard. Although it has been rumored for some time, that by 2021, three new zoom lenses with f / 2.8 to come on the market, but which new glasses to be presented in 2019, that was not known – until now, at least.
Now, for the first time, concrete information has emerged which would like to present the new RF lenses to the market leader in 2019. In total, there will be seven new glasses, which are expected to be the following models:
- RF 16-35mm f / 2.8L
- RF 24-70mm f / 2.8L IS
- RF 70-200mm f / 2.8L IS
- RF 105mm f / 1.4L
- RF 85mm f / 1.8 IS STM
- RF macro
- RF Kit Lens (not L)
The normal kit lens Canon will certainly reveal together with the new EOS R for beginners , the presentation should be made sometime in the next few months. Furthermore, there is also a wide-angle fixed focal length in development, but whether this will be presented in 2019 is uncertain.
Canon’s existing RF lenses were able to convince many, the 28-70mm f / 2 is, according to Tony Northrup example, the best zoom lens of all time , just like the Canon RF 50mm f / 1.2 L of DPReview the best Lens of the Year 2018 was elected.
